Initiated in 2009 with UGC funding, Women Studies Centre aims to interpret womens' experience as well as to change their condition through a transformation of consciousness and concerted modes of action. The centre has teaching, training, research and advocacy as core areas wherein the total focus is on women centric issues. The centre carries out surveys, awareness programmes, diverse skill training programmes like tailoring, cosmetology, basic computer training. The centre envisions a society based on gender equality and seeks to deconstruct gendered identities through its programmes.
Seminars, Paper Presentations, Panel Discussions and Extension Lectures are regularly arranged for the students of the centre to make them aware of the latest issues related to women.
The centre provides umpteen opportunities to economically challenged and marginalized women by providing them free of any cost job skills in cosmetology, basic computers and fashion designing that make them confident, full of self-esteem and dignity, economically self-reliant and employable.
