Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised a workshop on “The Basics of Patents”. The webinar was organised by Department of Bio-Technology. Ms. Monika Sharma, Patent Facilitator, SIPP (Govt. of India)was the resource person for the webinar. She started her talk mentioning the power of Patent&said we need patents as a commercial tool to stop anyone from copying your idea.She also discussed types of patent applications including Provisional application, Complete application, Divisional application and Patent of Addition. She discussed patentable and non-patentable things and talked about Trademarks, Trade secrets and Copyrights in detail&explained every single step for filing a patent application. She concluded her talk by guiding students that how they can prepare for Government Patent Examinations. After the session, inquisitive students asked various queries from the resource person. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivediextended her gratitude to the resource person for sharing such a valuable information with the students. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of the Department of Biotechnology for organising such kind of knowledge filled workshops for students.
