Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organised an international webinar under its International Series on the topic Plant Polyphenols: Use in seafood preservation. A virtual visit to the lab was also organised under this event. The webinar was organised by P.G. Department of Botany in collaboration with KMV’s- Institution Innovation Council. Dr. Avtar Singh, Research Lecturer, International Centre of Excellence in Seafood Science and Innovation, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai, Thailand was the resource person for the webinar. More than 60 students joined the webinar with full zeal & enthusiasm. During the lecture, he eloquently explained the emerging role of polyphenols as natural food additives in seafood to improve their shelf-life. He started his lecture with the introduction of Polyphenols as an antioxidants and their role in human health. Further he discussed about methodology and his research work on seafood preservation. During the virtual lab visit, Pulsed electric field, Cold plasma, Gas Chromatograph, Rheometer, Rotary-evaporator, etc. were shown to the students. During concluding remarks, Dr. Singh took queries of students brilliantly and clarified each and every doubt of the students. Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her gratitude to the resource person for sharing such a valuable knowledge with the students. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of PG Department of Botany for successfully organising the international webinar.
