A session on career counseling was organized by KMV IIC in collaboration with the P.G. Department of Physics on January 29, 2024. The resource person was Dr. Neetu Verma, Associate Professor, P.G. Department of Physics, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar. Faculty members and students from collegiate school attended the discussion.

The resource person started the interaction with students by focusing on understanding yourself. Who are you? What are your interests, values, strengths, and weaknesses? She mentioned self-awareness forms the bedrock upon which students can build their career aspirations. Once students have a clearer picture of their interests they can explore the myriad of career options available. She suggested students should research different industries, talk to professionals, and consider the educational requirements and job prospects associated with each field. Setting short-term and long-term goals can greatly help to chart a course towards a desired career, she said.

She also highlighted various opportunities provided by the PG department of Physics to their students like internships and research projects  in collaboration with Gujarat Borosil Pvt. Ltd., Italy (ENEA), DRDO, BRNS, and TIFR, availability of research labs with sophisticated instruments worth Rs. 1 Crore and Innovation hub for supporting innovative ideas and initiatives of students.

Through conversation with the speaker, the students learned more details. Students gained a great deal of knowledge from this engaging and interactive session. Dr. Neetu Verma received praise from Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi for her outstanding efforts in this regard.
