Discovering and developing newer and better ways for women empowerment and evolving a better society is a daily effort at KMV- The Heritage Institution. Dr Neetu Verma and Dr. Gopi Sharma from physics department have brought laurels for the Institution. They have recently been awarded a research grant from the Board of Research in Nuclear Science (BRNS) in collaboration with Dr. P. Nandi from Bhabha Atomic Research Center, Mumbai. They have been awarded with research grant worth Rs. 25.5 Lakh for conducting research. They will be working on the radiation shielding windows based on oxide glasses for three years. It is worth mentioning here that Dr. Verma and Dr. Gopi are conducting research on glasses and nano glass composites at KMV for various applications. Dr. Neetu Verma is recipient of prestigious Dinabandhu Sahu award for her innovative teaching methods from Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) and many more awards like Best teacher awards, Best presentation awards from many agencies. She has completed many research projects sanctioned by the Department of Science and Technology, University Grant Commission and published papers in international journals. She is an innovation ambassador of KMV Institutional council under which many innovative projects and ideas were presented at National level competitions like Toycathon, Smart India Hackathon etc. She has been coordinator of DBT grant under Star Status Scheme. Dr. Gopi Sharma is also the recipient of various national and international research grants. She has completed more than 8 major research projects in collaboration with ENEA Italy, COE College USA, Department of Science and Technology, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Tata Institution of Fundamental Research, Department of Atomic Energy Govt. of India.. Both of these teachers are guiding Ph.D. students.
PG Department of Physics at KMV is well equipped with highly sophisticated research labs supported by FIST and CURIE grants from the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and provides support to students and faculty from other institutions to conduct research. Science at KMV established in 1950 has always been a pioneer in science education having highly qualitative and experienced teachers in various Departments. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated the department of physics and faculty members for their success and recognition on international and national level.
