Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar an Autonomous and Heritage institution has always stressed upon innovations in science education for enabling smart and inclusive growth of students. P.G. Department of Physics, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar is constantly working in the direction of imparting science education through innovative teaching methodologies. Recently, A team of 11 students along with two faculty members of P.G Department of Physics, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar visited Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Bhogpur under social outreach programme on April 18, 2023. Students of KMV have developed some unique and innovative prototypes to make scientific fundamentals easy to understand. They worked on a project titled “Captivating Science Learning through Innovative Physics Experiments” in which they demonstrated some unique and innovative experiments to science students along with their faculty members. The idea behind organizing this activity was to boost the creative minds of our budding innovators and at the same time making physics interesting for the students. Various physics experiments demonstrating the Newton’s laws, conservation laws, reflection and refraction of light, generation of different modes of vibrations of a stationary wave, charging and discharging of bodies, effect of fictitious forces etc., were performed with students to make it easier for them to understand the concepts in a practical way. Motive of organizing this session was to develop the scientific temperament of young students. Students got encouraged by the work of their seniors and were so enthusiastic. The event helped budding school level innovators to think logically and to develop a few more prototypes. Atima Sharma Dwivedi applauded efforts of P.G. Department of Physics. “Engaging students in science content requires educators to help students see themselves as scientists and engineers instead of passively observing other people doing the work of science,” she said.
