Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous)organisedaspecial drive in the city for  Plastic/MLP(MultiLayer Plastic)collection in collaboration with Municipal Cooperation, Jalandhar.Under this drive students of fashion science department and NSS volunteersof KMV armed with bags, gloves and a strong sense of dedicationcollected the plastic /MLP waste from roadsidesand chanted the slogans to encourage the public for making city plastic free.The areas covered under this drive were KMV college road, Garbage Dumping Sites, Aman Nagar, Pathankot Chowk and Doaba Chowk. Thedrive was conducted with full zeal and enthusiasm in the presence of Mrs. Suman and Amandeep(community facilitator from MCJ, Jalandhar), Deeraj and Vikrant Sidhu (Sanitary Inspector). The MCJ officers informed the student that the plastic waste collected during the drive would be used by MCJ for recycling purposes. The drivewas followed by an extension lecture by Mrs Suman on the topic, ‘WaterborneDisease and their Prevention’. She apprised the students about illness suchasdiarrhoea,cholera,cryptosporidiosis, cyclosporiasis,Escherichia etc.Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has always been taking various initiatives as KMV aims to contribute for the betterment of the society in various ways. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Dr. PardeepArora, Mrs Ashima Sahni, Dr. Sonik Bhatia  and Dr Iqbal Singh for successfully organizing the event.
