Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) has become the first college in Punjab to be recognised as a Knowledge Partner in the Vigyan Jyoti Programme, an initiative by the Department of Science & Technology (DST).Previously, institutions of national importance, including National R&D Labs, IITs, NITs, and IISERs, have served as Knowledge Partners for the programme, mentoring JNVs and assisting them in securing resources for implementing various activities. KMV will now join this esteemed group by providing similar support to JNV Jalandhar. This includes mentoring students, hosting science camps and workshops, offering career counsellingand facilitating interactions with women role models in STEM. Under the banner of the Institution Innovation Council, Ministry of Innovation, Government of India, KMV has already demonstrated its commitment to fostering innovation and excellence.This accolade highlights KMV’s role in mentoring various prestigious institutions, including KendriyaVidyalaya 1, 2and 3 in Jalandhar Cantt., Government College, Ropar, Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana, Lakshmi Narayan College of Technology Excellence,Bhopal and many more.KMV’s involvement is expected to significantly enhance gender diversity in STEM fields and inspire more girls to pursue higher studies and careers in science and technology.KMV’s involvement as a knowledgepartner is expected to have a profound impact on the participating students. By leveraging its academic resources and expertise, KMV will contribute significantly to overcoming barriers in STEM fields for girls. This partnership will also help improve gender balance in the science and technology sector, aligning with the broader goals of the Vigyan Jyoti Programme.PrincipalProf. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi expressed her enthusiasm about this new role.
