Various activities were organized during the occasion in order to commemorate this day. During this occasion, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi along with the faculty members and the students paid a floral tribute at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Heritage Memorial in the KMV hostel. Prof. Dwivedi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the great soul. She averred that the courageous sacrifice of Bhagat Singh ignited the spark of patriotism among countless people and a country always needs these kind of souls for the better development and progress. She further maintained that it is a matter of great pride that KMV has a close connection with Bhagat Singh as he was very close to KMV’s then Principal Acharya Lajjawati ji and used to take shelter at KMV during the struggle for national freedom. As a mark of our tribute to Bhagat Singh and to cherish close connection and association with him, KMV has constructed a heritage memorial in the pristine surroundings of KMV hostel. KMV is a nationalistic institution which has played an active role in the freedom struggle as our students have been among the first women to join the freedom struggle. She further maintained that Bhagat Singh’s idealism coupled with his sacrifice made him a hero and an inspiration for many. Prof. Dwivedi adumbrated that students must inculcate the ideology of Bhagat Singh in themselves and make their character rich so that they can become good leaders in future. On this occasion, a photo exhibition depicting the life and struggles of Bhagat Singh was also showcased which contained the photos of Bhagat Singh, his family and also the letters written by Bhagat Singh at different points of time were also displayed in the exhibition.
