Students highlight the various economic issues of the country by participating in the activities during the Fest
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) always works hard to enrich its students in academics as well as in their overall personality development. In this series, P. G. Department of Economics organized the EcoEcho Fest. The chief guest for the fest was Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. First event was the “Mock Budget” based on the current Budget 2025on the theme of the Viksit Bharat and second event was the Ramp walk. Enthusiastic participants played out the process of budget presentation with students living up the various characters including the Finance Minister, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and various other prominent leaders of the country in the Parliament. Ms. Tanvi from B.A. semester VI played the role of finance minister – Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman and presented the current budget. Among the major characters, Ms. Sheetal Devi from M.Sc.(Economics) Semester II played the role of Prime Minister- Shri Narendra Modi, Anchalpreet Kaur of B.Sc. semester II as Nitin Gadkari and Ms. Dishafrom B.Sc. Eco sem II as DharmendraPradhan. All these politicians appreciated the budget presented by Nirmala Sitharaman. Ms. Ritika Sondhi from M.Sc. ( Eco.) Sem II as P. Chidambaram – Ex Finance Minister, RiyaJuneja from B.A. Sem II as Shashi Tharoor, Ms. Riya Bhagat as Rahul Gandhi, Ms. Mehak Tiwari as Kapil Sibal & Ms. Mehak as Raghav Chadda presented the views of opposition parties, who considered the budget very disappointing and lacking vision as it ignored the problems of unemployment, povertyand inflation. Besides these characters, Gurwinder Kaur played the role of a farmer, Vanshika Sharma enacted the role of a housewife, Suhani & Jetika presented the views of salaried class and Amritjot Kaur presented opinion on MSME. The anchoring of the entire budget was well played by Jasmine Kaur from M.A. semester VI.The second event was the Ramp Walk consisting of four rounds. In the first round, the students showcased the Indian culture by wearing Indian attires. In the second and third round, the students displayed their artistic skills showcasing the hand bags, sunglasses, watches, belt and perfume.In the last round, students depicted punjabi culture showing phulkari, Punjabi jutti, matka and pakhi. Ms. Harshita from BA Sem II entertained the audience with her mesmerizing voice. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the enactment of the whole mock budget and lauded the efforts of students for its insightful analysis and articulate presentation. She averred that these kinds of activities make students better learners and boost their confidence. She congratulated Mrs. Amarpreet Khurana, Head, PG Department of Economics, and the whole faculty of the PG Department of Economics for successfully organizing the event.
