Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment with Top National and State Rankings by India Today Survey of Best Colleges 2020 (various categories) successfully concluded Two Day National e-Conference on COVID-19 Pandemic: Emerging Challenges & Future Strategies under DBT Star Status and sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.The conference was organised by the faculty of sciences of KMV. The last day of the conference commenced with the Expert talk byDr. Subarna Roy Scientist F / Deputy Director (Senior Grade) ICMR-National Institute of Epidemiology, Dept. of Health Research, Government of India, Ayapakkam, Chennai. Dr. Subarna Roy’s topic of the talk was ‘Anatomy of an Outbreak’. He started his talk by giving a basic introduction of an outbreak. He gave an overview about the various outbreaks occurred in different parts of India and how these outbreaks can be investigated and prevented by taking appropriate control measures. Dr.Subarna also shared his experiences related to his investigations of different outbreaks taken place at Andaman Nicobar island andsome other parts of the country. The second Expert talk of the day was delivered by Dr. Felix Bast, Associate Professor,Department of Botany,Central University, Bathinda.
Dr. Felix Bast gave an overview about how our ecosystem is getting affected day by day. He further told that deforestation and encroachment to the ecosystem is the root cause of emerging and re-emerging diseases. He told that how nature is teaching humanity to lead life in harmony, otherwise nature would continuously release a new pathogen in its defence. Dr.Felix further added that it is a high time to save our ecosystem for sustainability. After Dr Felix talk, the session for E- Poster presentation was conducted in which esteemed faculty members and students from various Institutespresented their e- posters related to the theme of e-Conference.Valedictory address for the conference was delivered by Principal Prof. Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi. She averred that the primary objective of this e-Conference was to provide a platform to all students, research scholars, scientists and academiciansto share their ideas and views on the COVID-19 which has engulfed the entire world, and as a result, whole teaching fraternity and students are grappling with the sudden new norm of completely technology based teaching and learning process. This led to organise this e-Conference focusing on the challenges faced and strategies required to combat the unprecedented situation of this deadly disease in India. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Mrs Parminder, Mrs Manju Sahni, Mrs Sadhna Tandon and the whole organising team for the successful conduct of this e-conference. She also congratulated the award winners of the e-Conference.
