Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar an autonomous and heritage institution has always stressed upon innovations in science education for enabling smart and inclusive growth of students. Department of Sciences Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar in association with KMV’s Institution Innovation Council is constantly working in the direction of imparting science education through innovative teaching methodologies. The Department of Sciences inculcates scientific temperament among students and also supports them to showcase their innovative ideas at competitive level. In this regard  Intra College Smart India Hackathon named “Disha ” was organized to boost the innovation culture among budding innovators and to further establish the idea-sharing, effective collaboration and creativeness driven by enthusiasm towards a shared goal. Disha witnessed wide physical participation of 25 teams comprising more than 150 participants from the institution. Hackthon pooled various innovative ideas to solve several society based problems like Disposal of used masks, Laser Security, Power crisis, touchless sanitizers, touchless attendance systems etc. Judges selected the best 15 ideas and selected ideas were submitted for Smart India Hackathon under the Ministry of Innovation Council, Govt of India. Smart India Hackathon is a nationwide initiative to provide students a platform to solve some of pressing problems we face in our daily lives, and thus inculcate a culture of product innovation and a mindset of problem solving.In SIH, the students would also have the opportunity to work on challenges faced within the private sector organisations and create world class solutions for some of the top companies in the world, thus helping the Private sector hire the best minds from across the nation. Our three innovative ideas  Gripping Grammer, Laser Security Alert and Sag-re-create were selected under the mentorship of Dr. Neetu Verma (Physics), Dr. Narinderjit (Chemistry)and Dr. Surbhi ( Physics) for Grand Finale of SIH 2022.The team members of selected ideas are  (i) Gripping Grammer : Haramanpreet Kaur, Lavleen Saini (ii) Laser Security Alert : Rushi Chambyal, Charu, Harjot (iii) Sag-re-create : Sandeep, Shruti, Arshdeep. Principal Dr. (Mrs.) Atima Sharma congratulated students and teachers for their remarkable achievement.
