Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, 14-16th September 2024: The Postgraduate Department of Fashion Designing at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya organized a two-day workshop titled “Dyeing with Discards: An Ayurvedic Approach to Kitchen Waste” from 14th to 16th September 2024. The workshop aimed to explore sustainable and innovative methods of using kitchen waste for natural dyeing, promoting both eco-friendly practices and Ayurvedic principles.
The workshop focused on harnessing the power of natural ingredients from everyday kitchen waste, such as vegetable peels, fruit scraps, and herbs, to create vibrant, sustainable dyes for fabrics. Participants learned various Ayurvedic techniques to extract colors, highlighting the environmental benefits of reducing waste and reusing natural resources.
The event was well-received, providing valuable knowledge on sustainable fashion practices while promoting awareness about the importance of waste reduction and Ayurvedic wellness. It offered a unique opportunity for students to merge creativity with sustainability, supporting KMV’s ongoing commitment to environmental consciousness in the field of fashion.
