Discovering and developing newer and better ways for women empowerment and evolving a better society is a daily effort at KMV- The Heritage Institution. The P.G. Department of Physics organized an invited talk by Dr. Umesh Kumar Sharma, a Scientist-F, from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi. He delivered a guest lecture on “Career Progression In Sciences” at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, an autonomous and Heritage Institution. The lecture was attended by students, and faculty members, from the Department of Sciences.
Dr. Umesh Kumar Sharma commenced the talk by shedding light on the importance of aligning one’s passion and interests with their career path. He discussed the various initiatives, scholarships, and opportunities offered by the government to foster the growth of scientists and researchers in India. He introduced the audience about various transformative scholarship programs like INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research), WISE (Women Scientists Scheme) Scholarship, WISE Post-Doctoral Fellowship (WISE-PDF) and SERB (Science and Engineering Research Board) and many more. Dr. Sharma explained the application and selection processes for each scholarship program elaborating the benefits and impact of these scholarships on the recipients and the scientific community at large. He guided the students on preparing competitive grant proposals and provided valuable guidance to aspiring scientists and researchers.
The talk ended into an interactive session, where attendees got the opportunity to clear their doubts regarding the various scholarships for students and research grants during one to one interaction with Dr. Sharma. The event was a great success, and attendees left with valuable knowledge and inspiration to embark on a successful scientific journey. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi greeted him and applauded P.G. Department of Physics for organizing such meaningful lecture cum interactions.
