KMV recently hosted an innovative program titled “Learning Physics through Nature” (LEPTON), showcasing the Physics Department’s commitment to hands-on, practical learning experiences for students. LEPTON, an initiative aimed at fostering meta-skills, provided a unique platform where participants engaged with physics concepts through videos of experiments set in natural environments.
Under the auspices of the National Anveshika Network of India (NANI) and in collaboration with Shiksha Sopan, led by Padam Shri Prof. H.C. Verma, the event drew upon 30 Anveshika centers across India. Notably, top performers in LEPTON gained direct entry into the online preliminary round of the National Anveshika Experimental Skill Test (NAEST) 24.
NAEST, an annual competition, evaluates and cultivates students’ observational, analytical, and experimental skills in physics. KMV, as Punjab’s sole Anveshika center, proudly hosted the event, welcoming 300 students from Jalandhar Model School and KMV Collegiate Senior Secondary School.
Participants tackled questions presented through pre-recorded experimental videos, requiring keen observation and problem-solving abilities within a specified timeframe. These inquiries were meticulously designed to test participants’ grasp of core principles and their application in real-world scenarios.
Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, lauded the students’ contributions and commended the Physics Department faculty. She emphasized the significance of scientific literacy and technological proficiency in driving innovation and wealth creation within communities.
