PG dept of Physics under the Institution’s Innovation Council, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, celebrated ‘Diwali fiesta 2023’ on the physics based theme on 7th November 2023 and dedicated this event to the birth Anniversary of first  Asian Nobel Laureate in science and a great Physicist of India, Sir CV Raman. Four different types of competitions were organized with the aim to develop creativity, visionary thinking, imagination and collaboration among budding scientists. It provided a platform to the students where they were an inherent part of all the activities and were able to showcase their talent and imagination in an innovative manner.

The event witnessed participation of  students of Bachelor’s of Science and master’s of Physics of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya. The whole event was appraised by Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya.

The first competition was ‘Physics and Satrang’. Under which students worked with rangoli colors to bring the awareness of eco friendly diwali and to showcase the innovations done by Sir CV Raman. The winners for this competition were Tanvi, Sajal, Aayushi and Mansi students of B.Sc. Non-Med sem V in the first position. Bhawna, Beenu, Rupinder and Shabnam,  B.Sc. Non-Med sem V in collaboration with Sakshi and Khushvandana, 10+2 Non-Med., earned the second position and third position was bagged by Akshita and Lavleen, M.Sc. Physics Sem III.

The second competition was ‘Lets Decorate’. Students decorated their classrooms by amalgamating science and Diwali. M.Sc. Physics sem I and bagged first position. The second position was earned by B.Sc. (NM/CSc) sem III and the third prize was given to the M.Sc. Physics sem III and B.Sc. (H) Physics Sem V in collaboration. Bsc. (NM/CSc) Sem V earned the consolation prize. The aim of the event was to develop adaptable, creative and motivated individuals who can take responsibility for their own learning and also work effectively in team for the betterment of the society.

Third Competition was ‘Best out of Waste’ in which students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm and made many worthy items with the household waste materials and explored their creative minds. Their efforts were appreciated by Principal madam and one and all present there. All the things they made were to be use in a day to day life. First prize was collected by Aamna and Harman students of MSc. Physics sem III, while second and third prize went to Harmeet, MSc. Physics sem I, and Manjusha and Amanpreet, BSc. Hons. Physics Sem V respectively.

Fourth Competition was ‘Crop and Edit’ in which students highlighted the life of CV Raman sir and their inventions in the form of short video clips. This competition promoted scientific knowledge among the students and motivated them to do innovative work. First position was bagged by Amisha and Ravinder, students of  B.Sc. (C.Sc.) Sem V, while Harroop Kaur, 10+2 Non-Med., stood in second position and Aamna and Harman, M.Sc. Physics Sem III, earned the third position.
