Two Faculty members and two students of P.G Department of Physics, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar an autonomous and heritage institution got selected to set an innovation stall at the first regional meet of IIC institutions from North-West Region (J&K, HP, UK, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Chandigarh UT) which was held at Chandigarh University on 21 Nov 2023. More than 450+ Faculty representatives from 270+ HEIs took part in this IIC regional meet along with 45+ Arts and Science colleges. 75+ innovations and 70+ IIC posters were also exhibited during the meet. More than 10+ incubators, state agencies, IP firms and ecosystem enablers from the state of Punjab and Haryana and Chandigarh were part of the round table discussion to strengthen their relation with educational institutions.

P.G. Department of Physics, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar in collaboration with KMV IIC set up an innovation stall named Roadex-Trellis in which Stagnated water ejector, Bluetooth car, Air cannon and Mirror tub were explained by final year students Haramanpreet Kaur (M.Sc. Physics) and Navneet Kaur (B.Sc. Non-Medical) under the supervision of Dr. Neetu Verma (Associate Professor) and Dr. Surbhi (Assistant Professor).

The presenters from other IIC affiliated institutes came to our stall and appreciated every idea. They were amazed to see the facilities provided by our institute and the innovational approach of faculties and students towards solving the problem faced by society in a very novel way. They appreciated the model which help in improving teaching aids i.e., air cannon and mirror tub which can help students to learn science in a very creative way. These types of devices can also be used to enhance entertainment in the amusement parks. Smartphone Controlled Car which can be operate easily and can be used for military surveillance. The Stagnated water ejector will operate based on an automatic sensor system will remove the major problem faced by the society nowadays i.e., water stagnation on the roads which create several diseases and cause road accidents. So this idea will got placed in the category of Science for the society affairs.

Mr. Dipan Sahu, an MOEs IIC Coordinator visited our stall and appreciated the efforts of students who came up with such a wonderful and novel technical idea to solve the problems of society despite coming from a non-technical background. He suggested students and institution to make these innovative ideas turned into a registered startup and open an India based Company. IIC members from different institutions like IIT Ropar, Maharaja Agarsen University, Panjab University etc.  visited the stall and cherished the ideas. They were amazed with the facts that idea had two registered patents of process and design. The experts had suggested to get this idea incubated and turn it into a startup and also the institute can collaborate with the industry. They had asked about the next plans to execute these ideas in reality. Some engineers would like to help us in any technical work to process these ideas.

Students had presented the novelty behind their ideas in front of judges and all dignitaries appreciated that and acknowledged the women empowerment provided at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar. Madam Principal Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi had visited the stall and happy to see the hard work of students in making this exhibition a success. This stall-cum-exhibition attracted lot of visitors who amazed to know about the uniqueness of our institute in executing such a good hub of students and support them at every step so that the ideas and creativity in the minds of students can be nourished in very correct way and they can make such new products and services that will take the market of the India at high peaks.

After lunch break there was another session that was Track3- Yukti track where the students and teachers pitched their products in front of judges-panel. Judges did the cross-questioning about their products and got satisfied response from the presenters. Some of the products were related to maternity health care, driving license test simulations which can compete Maruti Suzuki’s existing one simulation, Smart bin which can detect nuclear and other harmful wastages and no. of other wonderful ideas were presented. It was a great session indeed. Our students had attended this track and learned different new things which are going in the new market, so that they can improvise their innovative ideas on the lines of market needs.
