To promote scientific innovations among school students, P.G Department of Physics, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar an autonomous and heritage institution has organized a workshop titled “Captivating Learning through Innovative Experiments” in which KMViets demonstrated some unique and innovative experiments to school students. Nearly 4 schools participated in this workshop. Idea behind organizing this activity was to boost the creative minds of our budding innovators and at the same time making learning of Physics interesting for school students. Under the same umbrella Government Senior Secondary School, Nurpur Jalandhar visited Innovation lab of Kanya Maha Vidyalya, Jalandhar. Students learnt various novel experiments like Newton Cradle, Air Canon, Lorentz Oscillator, Motion in inclined plane, energy transfer in spring etc., were exhibited to the students to make it easier for them to understand the concepts in a practical way. KMViets explained the concept of conservation of energy and momentum, Moment of Inertia, Doppler’s Effect, types of waves, propagation of waves in a medium, Coupled pendulums with variable lengths etc. Students have devised Newton’s cradle, Air canon, Looping the loop etc. to make fundamentals easier to understand. In the program KMViets acted as mentors for their junior school students. The event has helped budding school level innovators to think logically and to develop a few more prototypes.Students were encouraged to investigate new facts about each instrument and were advised to plan different experiments and activities related to apparatuses. Idea behind organizing this session was to develop momentum in the minds of young students. Students were given the liberty to explore concepts related to different setups in innovation hub. This event proved effective to spread science education at school level. Exposure of science equipments and high tech apparatuses was given those were earlier inaccessible to school students. Students got encouraged by the work of their seniors and showed willingness to take initiatives for more creative projects and experiments. Principal Dr. (Prof.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi cheered up the students and encouraged them to organize such events in future to benefit other students.
