Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar an autonomous and heritage institution has always supported the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan/ Self-reliant India campaign which is the vision of new India envisaged by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. P.G. Department of Physics is inculcating innovative minds among its students and is then translating innovations to prototypes. Recently with the objective of stressing the need of startup, P.G. Department of Physics in collaboration with KMV’s Innovation Council (KMV IIC) has organized an expert talk on “Voyage to lean startup through innovations” on Aug 21, 2023. Mentoring session started with the address by Dr. Neetu Verma, P.G. Department of Physics on “Introduction of Patents, Copyright and Designs”. In her address, Dr. Neetu boosted students to come up with innovative projects and have a startup to support society as well as nation. Later Dr. Surbhi Sharma presented prototypes touchless switches and contactless hand sanitizers, Smartphone operated Blue tooth car, Automatic stagnate road water ejector etc. prepared in by the department. Students have developed as well as showcased touchless hand sanitizing machine which will be installed in the entrance of their class rooms. Further a prototype of touchless switches and touchless attendance system has been developed with an objective that students while entering or leaving the class room can turn lights and fans ON/OFF without even touching switches and can get themselves sanitized too. Attendance of students will be automatically marked by just passing across the switch. Students have also designed Bluetooth Controlled Car (Futuristic Driveless Car) which can be operated by using mobile phone. Through this workshop creative talent of the students was explored and they were able to think outside of the box. Students asked various questions related to IPR, startups from the resource person.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi applauded efforts of P.G. Department of Physics for organizing this expert talk. She added that today innovation is the need of hour and our curriculum should focus on innovations and entrepreneurship.
