P.G.Department of Physics established since 1950 offer undergraduate and master programmes and faculty is guiding Ph.D in collaboration with various institutions of high repute. Department of Physics is FIST Supported by and first women college offering M.Sc. Physics under the brackets of GNDU. Department has research projects sanctioned by various governmental organizations DST, DAE, ICTP (Italy) and NSF (USA). To create awareness about the legacy of P.G. Department of Physics an orientation session was organized for the first year Physics students by the final year B.Sc. and M.Sc. Physics students. In the session research achievements of all the faculty members of Physics Department were briefed to students with an objective of inspiring them for opting research as their career. P.G Department of Physics provides world class research facilities under one roof. It offers UV–Vis spectrometer, DTA, FTIR spectrometer, LCR, Bottom Loading furnace, Photoluminescence facilities. Students were also acquainted with various academic as well as co-curricular activities organized by the department in past years. Overall, the session was interesting and successfully created awareness about P.G. Department of Physics among the students.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi applauded efforts of P.G. Department of Physics for organizing this orientation session. She added that such events should be organized to let students know the legacy of the institution as well as achievements of their respective departments.
