Under this umbrella a two day training program, from 27 to 28 March, 2023, was organised by P.G. Department of Physics Kanya Maha Vidyalaya for students of MSc physics at National Physics Laboratory Delhi. National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is India’s National Metrology Institute (NMI) responsible for developing and maintaining the national primary measurement standards as well as collaborating with other NMIs to maintain the international system of measurements. During the two days training, students were familiarized with various techniques used for material characterization along with details about their applications and future scope. On the first day, a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) And X ray Fluorescence spectrometer (XRF) were demonstrated. On the second day, students were introduced to X-Ray Diffractometer, Dynamic Ray Scattering Zetasizer and Magnetic Rheology. Students also got the chance to meet with the senior principal scientist and Head, Bhartiya Nirdeshak Dravya (BND), Dr. Nahar Singh who engaged the students in an interesting and informative talk motivating students in the field of research. This two-day training proved to be very beneficial and informative for the students and they learnt about important techniques that would aid their future in scientific research and their advancements will prove beneficial for the nation.
