Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar  an autonomous and heritage institution provides infrastructure and technical support to the students having innovative ideas to transform their ideas into new & innovative products for the betterment of the society. It is a matter of great pride that the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, has recognised KMV, Jalandhar as a high performing IIC institution (with a star rating of 4) to act as mentor. Under the Mentor-Mentee program KMV-IIC has organized an orientation session on Handholding support to Mentee Institutions on Pre-Incubation Facilities for its five mentee Institutions. Session witnessed presence of in campus faculty along with the IIC representatives from Govt. College, Ropar, Guru Hargobind Institute of Law for Women, Ludhiana, J.C. DAV College, Dasuya, IITM College of Art Science and Commerce, Sonipat and Laxmi Narayan College of Technology Excellence, Bhopal. The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar (KMV) was established in the year 2019. The aim of KMV-IIC is to develop and strengthen entrepreneurial and innovative skills in the budding professionals who are interested in starting their own ventures.  KMV-IIC is equipped with state of art infrastructure that includes Innovation  Hub, Cuisine Lab, Animation Lab, Sukriti- The Retail Lab, Beauty and wellness lab, Audio-Visual Studio, Fashion Designing Lab. KMV Innovation Ambassadors introduced and elaborated incubation facilities available at KMV, Jalandhar. During the presentations Innovation Ambassadors elaborated that Innovation hub is an independent place of learning, inspiration, motivation, recreation, imagination and thinking. In order to enhance the creativity and skill in Education of Basic Physics, some experiments like circular pendulum, Black hole, Air cannon, Doppler Effect, energy transfer in spring etc, are installed to make it easier for students to understand the concepts of Physics in a practical way. Also the Center of Beauty & Wellness has a well equipped lab and smart classes for students to enhance their practical skills. Beauty and wellness center offers Micro Derma Abrasion, Beauty Studio, Galvanic, High Frequency Skin Analyzer, UV Lamp (For Nail Extension), Autoclave, Sterilizer etc. Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar has been a proud recipient to an array of awards for excellence in skill based education and outstanding performances by the students in Hospitality and Tourism. A three room guest house managed by the students under Hospitality and Tourism. Students practice bedmaking and other Accommodation Management practical’s in the guest house at the KMV campus. The Basic Training Kitchen and Bakery are the hands-on training labs to learn various culinary aspects. The Basic Training Restaurant is the hands-on training lab to learn various concepts of the food and beverage service industry. Under Textile and Apparel Technology, students are trained in handloom making, stitching, draping etc. KMV IIC has supported several students to establish their own boutiques under seed money projects. Students also sell their products through Amazon under the banner of KMV, Jalandhar. To boost talent among KMViets, a fashion show named Sukriti is organized every year where students get an opportunity to exhibit their talents through modeling, fashion designing and make up art. Under the program Nutrition, Exercise and Health, KMV IIC boost spirits of students to enhance their skills as dieticians, for which workshops, extension lectures and invited talks are organized regularly. Overall the event was very interesting and motivated mentee institutions to establish such incubation facilities at their own campuses.

Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi applauded efforts of KMV IIC for organizing such orientation sessions and invited mentee institutions to visit and avail incubation facilities at KMV, Jalandhar. She added that today innovation is the need of the hour and our curriculum should focus on innovations and entrepreneurship.
