Kanya Maha Vidyalaya(KMV)– the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment, Ranked No.1 College in India by India Today Ranking (Various Categories) organized an online event on Intellectual property awareness. Department of Science of KMV& Institution Innovation council (KMV-IIC)in collaboration with Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE, Department of promotion of industry and internal trade, Indian Patent Office (IPO) organized online talk on IP rights under National IP awareness Mission eventprogram on the occasion of World IP Day during the IP literacy week celebration under the Kalam Program for Intellectual Property Literacy and Awareness Campaign (KAPILA) on April 28, 2022 from 1pm to 3pm. Ms.ShallyChoudhary, Examiner of patents, Indian Patent Office,Delhi was the resource person for the session. Dr NeetuVerma, Coordinator and Vice President-KMV-IIC, gave formal welcome to resource person. Prof. (Dr) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV, Jalandhar welcomed the resource person and asserted the importance of innovation and IPRs in today’s world. averred that the present event will act as a platform for the students to be aware about various types of IPRs. Ms.Choudhary gave introduction to concept of intellectual property rights and mentioned various types of intellectual property rights- Patents, Designs, Trademark, Copyright, Semiconductor integrated circuit layout designs (SICLD), Geographical indications. She gave detailed information about technical details, filing procedure along with fees to be paid, time line and time period of protection. She told that there is 80% fee reduction for educational institutes for IPR filing since Sept 2021.She emphasized Intellectual property rights are territorial rights, it’s important to first to protect and then publish. Registration is important for each IP is important. She mentioned about career opportunities available in field of IPRs-Patent examiner and Patent agents.She also interacted with faculty and students.
