Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) organized the Annual Convocation in order to celebrate the successful completion of various academic levels of its scholars. The chief guest Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Dr. Karamjeet Singh was accorded floral felicitations on this occasion. Dr.Sushma Chawla, Sh. Dhruv Mittal, Dr.Satpal Gupta and Smt. Sushila Bhagat, eminent members of KMV Managing Committee also graced the occasion with their invaluable presence. The proceedings of this formal event commenced with the lighting of the holy lamp and invocation to the Goddess of Learning. Welcoming the eminent and illustrious guest, KMV Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated Dr. Karamjeet Singh on taking over the reins of GNDU as Vice Chancellor. She read out a detailed report enumerating the Vidyalaya’s meritorious achievements at National as well as International levels in diverse fields like Academics, Co-academics, Research, Sports, NCC and Placements. She highlighted that demands for new skill sets and competencies among young generations are increasingly on the rise owing to rapidly changing socio-economic environment and job markets. Such challenges posed by contemporary times can only be met with transformational, progressive measures in education to prepare the young people for their successful careers and future lives.The Academic Autonomy of KMV has given a clear field to implement Upgraded relevant curriculum, innovative teaching methodologies, focus on learning outcomes, exposure to the larger world, global standards in teaching, Internships and international partnerships with Academia and Industry. These successful initiatives implemented in letter & spirit are the winning streaks of KMV that has been forging new pathways with accelerated changes towards evolution of human society for past 140 years. In his presidential remarks, Sh. Chander Mohan, President, Arya Shiksha Mandal welcomed Dr. Karamjeet Singh to the College campus and also congratulated the students on the successful completion of a significant phase of their life in their academic pursuit. Sh. Chander Mohan stressed that all educational institutions and policy makers must resolve to bring about transformative changes in educational landscape to equip today’s youth to combat the challenges being posed by AI powered tools. The Chief Guest Dr. Karamjeet Singh, Vice Chancellor, GNDU congratulated the young scholars on receiving their degrees and also shared his illuminating views on Character-building feature embedded in Education. Quoting extensively from great seers in his address, Dr Karamjeet Singh elucidated on the need to groom scholars as holistically developed individuals who must be equipped with courage to challenge their comfort zones. In his motivational speech, he quoted the life examples of J.K.Rowling, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg to urge the scholars to realize the Power of Failure, Imagination and Resilience. Each student is endowed with unique talent which he or she must pursue with sincere efforts without comparison with others. Since there is no short cut to success, therefore, Hard work combined with perseverance and gratitude always yields best results. He lauded the role of KMV that has not just been inspiring young generation in the progression of the nation across three centuries but also setting new benchmarks each day. The event also witnessed the release of a book Literary Perspectives by the PG Department of English. A cultural dance presentation and Sitar recital showcasing the rich heritage of Punjab marked the culmination of the event. It is noteworthy that as many as 825 students were awarded degrees for UG and PG level courses in Humanities, Sciences, Commerce and IT along with Vocational Studies during the convocation. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Dean, Department of Student Welfare & Dr. Sabina Batra for successfully organising the convocation.
