⦁ Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, KanyaMaha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous Heritage Institution, Jalandhar was awarded for Excellence in Leadership in Higher Education. Rana K.P. Singh, Hon’ble Speaker, Legislative Assembly of Punjab presented the award to her in a Ceremony organized by Zee TV on International Women’s Day which witnessed the presence of Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary, Social Security, Women & Child Development Minister, Punjab and Mrs. Sarveen Chaudhary, Urban Development, Minister, Himachal Pradesh. She was awarded for pioneering new initiatives in education and leading KMV to glory and unprecedented heights. (9 March 2019)
⦁ Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Jalandhar received grant of 1.26 Cr under the conferment of the Star Status by DBT, Govt. of India. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has become the only college from Punjab to get this status in session 2018-19. KMV has become one of the 16 colleges out of all the eminent colleges of India to be awarded with this prestigious Star College Status in the year 2018. (29 November 2018)
⦁ Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage &Autonomous institution, Jalandhar has created history yet again by getting accredited by Institute of Chartered Accountants of India for providing on-campus coaching to C.A. students. Prof Atima Sharma Dwivedi maintained that KMV has entered into an academic tie up with ICAI which is the first of its kind in Punjab. ⦁ Ms Sandeep Kaur, Project Scholar of PG Department of Physics, KMV has been awarded with six months ICTP TRIL fellowship from International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and ENEA, Italy. During her fellowship she will be working at Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development (ENEA), Italy under the guidance of Dr. Mauro Falconeri. Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya was bestowed with WISCOMP Saahas Award 2020 for her exemplary leadership in expanding the canvas of Gender equality in Higher education & for initiating projects for safe environment and places in higher education for women. Also for working on Gender Equity through Conflict Management and Peace for Women in Society. WISCOMP (Women in Security, Conflict Management and Peace) is a prestigious international organization supported by Public Affairs Section of American Embassy, New Delhi. It is an initiative of the Foundation for Universal Responsibility, which was established with funds from the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to His Holiness The Dalai Lama in 1989. (26 August 2020)
⦁ Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi has been honoured with Paryavaran Ratna Award by Indian Centre for Wildlife and Environmental Studies in South Asia Region, Jaipur for guidance and encouragement of students. She also been bestowed with Paryavaran Dronacharya Award and has also been honoured with Environmental Principal of the Year 2019-20 by ICWESSAR, Jaipur. It is worth mentioning here that under the able guidance of Principal Prof Dr AtimaSharma Dwivedi, KMV has organised various environmental conservation activities for the students so that they can be made aware about the need of sustainable development & ecosystem preservation. School bagged overall first position in India & has been awarded with Paryavaran Ratna award and a Gold medal in the National Level 25th Paryavaran Ratna Exam held by ICWESSAR (Indian Centre for Wildlife and Environmental Studies in South Asia Region). ⦁ Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India under the leadership of Mr Gajendra Singh Shekhawat honoured KMV for the various environment conservation efforts of the students. In its e-magazine titled Jal Charcha (June edition), the ministry mentioned that KMV is the epitome of women empowerment in India since the beginning of the 20th century. The ministry also lauded the college for the various environment conservation activities carried out in the college including the Save Water campaign launched in the college by Mr Manpreet Badal, Finance Minister, Punjab. The magazine also appreciated the college for establishing a group of students called Water Warriors in order to spread awareness about the Conservation of Water. ( 3 July 2020)

⦁ Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya-the Autonomous & Heritage Institution, Jalandhar was awarded for excellent contribution to the society through social work during the district level Republic Day celebration. She was bestowed the award by Mr Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Minister of Jails during district level Republic Day celebration in Guru Gobind Singh Stadium. ⦁ Students of KMV were honoured by Municipal Corporation Jalandhar for their participation in creating awareness in their residential and nearby areas for clean and green city and helping to inculcate a culture of positive and constructive disposal and management of waste. In the month long online activities, students showcased their innovative ideas and created social awareness about best out of waste under categories like plastic, kitchen, metal, rubber, cloth, paper and wood waste with emphasis on reuse, recycle and recreation. KMVites undertook special initiative to reuse coconut waste and create decorative and useful articles in a productive manner. (23 October 2020)

⦁ KMV has been awarded 14 Intellectual Property Rights by Copyright Office, Government Of India. Throwing more light on this glorious success, Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Head, P. G. Department of Fashion Designing along with the research scholars of the department has received 12 IPRs. Dr Pardeep Arora, PG Department of Computer Science & Applications has also been awarded one IPR. Dr Ravi Khurana, PG Department of Computer Science & Applications has also been awarded an IPR for QOS- Aware Optical Fog Assisted Cyber Physical System in 5G Ready Heterogeneous Network and Method for the Same from Government of Australia. ⦁ Students as well as faculty members of KMV have been granted Bilateral State Scholarships for Summer University Courses. Four students of M.A. (Psychology) namely Jagriti Nagpal, Pranavcheet Kaur, Amandeep Kaur and Shreya Dogra along with one Faculty Member named Dr. Sharanjit Kaur have been granted this Scholarship to attend Summer Course. The duration of these courses will be 4 weeks and the courses will start in the month of July, 2021. Based on the financial support of the Hungarian Government, Tempus Public Foundation offers scholarships for foreign higher education students, graduates and professionals who would like to gain further knowledge in Hungarian summer university courses. ⦁ KMV’s Dr Narinderjit Kaur from PG Department of Chemistry was invited as the Keynote Speaker in the International Conference IIER 2019 at Oxford University, Oxford, UK. During the conference, she presented her research paper titled ‘Biosurfuctant Nanoemulsions- A Novel Technique for Textile Effluent Treatment’ which received the Best Paper Presentation Award. ⦁ Dr. Monika Rani, Assistant Professor in the PG Department of Mathematics of KMV received best paper presentation award at the International Conference on ”Latest Innovations in Engineering, Management, Social Science and Education” which was held at the International Centre Panjim, Goa. ⦁ Dr. Surbhi Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics of KMV received Best Paper Presentation Award at an International Conference on Science & Technology Research (ICSTR- Barcelona) which was organized by the Scientific & Technology Research Association (STRA) at Campus de la Ciutadella, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Surbhi was the only speaker from India who participated in the conference. She presented her research work on the topic “Effect of Te additive on thermal stability and glass forming tendency of Ge-Sn-Se chalcogenide glass system”. (13 October 2018)
⦁ Dr. Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English was felicitated by KMV Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi as her translated stories was published by Sahitya Akademi in the book titled ‘Something Unspoken Too’. Dr. Madhumeet averred that most of the stories in this collection bear testimony to the unique aspect of art and craft through which one searches the hidden, unrevealed, mysterious and the unspoken all in an effort to understand the complexities of human motives and actions.
Response to COVID Pandemic : Project #KMVKares Continues to Transform Challenges into Strengths
KMV has an incredible zeal and drive to transform challenges into strengths and opportunities. This was translated into reality during the challenges of Covid-19 times. Our engagement with the students; academic, psychological, motivational,spiritual and intellectual did not stop even for a day. Through our innovative programs during the Covid-19 times, our students responded with the mindful energy and creativity! Through the innovative project #KMV Kares, the institution again exhibited that it is a path-breaking trailblazing and trendsetting institution which has served generations with its exemplary endeavours. The most outstanding feature that emerged during Covid-19 times is the indomitable courage, commitment and strength of our students and faculty. Excellent learning and training for our students through these difficult times prove to be positive and helpful to the needy when times go tough!
Academic Engagement : In the wake of the lockdown when the regular classroom teaching had been suspended the classes commenced online and continued unhampered through the student-friendly Advanced Learning Management System (LMS). Syllabi of all classes was completed through recorded audio video lessons, quiz, assignments, projects and Live online classes. The faculty members also enhanced their skills and learning by attending various Faculty Development Programs organized by universities and bodies of repute. KMV Webinar Series with highly acclaimed and erudite International and National resource persons from diverse fields was organized and the students availed tremendous benefit from the discourses.
Social Outreach Initatives: Being the champion crusader for the cause of social wellbeing, KMV carried out many meaningful social outreach initiatives which included distributing food cooked from the KMV hostel kitchen to the destitutes, making and distributing around 40,000 masks to ensure the protection of the masses and also to help the Civil Administration during these testing times, sharing Immunity Booster Diet Plans and online diet counseling, and also initiating tele as well as e-counselling to combat anxiety of the people. Free of cost online classes by various departments on topics like Spoken English, IT Skills et al were also of great benefit to the society.
Project Helping Hands : An exceptional and exemplary humanitarian initiative was launched under the aegis of #KMV Kares project to offer unconditional support – both emotional and financial to the students whose families were affected by the deadly Corona virus. Around 10 students were provided timely and much required support which played a pivotal role in restoring good health and well being in their families. Along with financial aid, medicines, medical attention, morale boosting and counselling assuaged the sufferings of the ailing humanity.
Channelizing Student Energy & Spreading Positivity : To keep students spiritually and emotionally engaged, KMV motivated them to participate in various fruitful activities. They joined Fit India’ campaign by doing Yoga and Rope skipping. Students made posters, e-banners to spread awareness. Many online competitions like Photography, Calligraphy, Book Mark Making, Best out of Waste, Open Mic, Essay Writing, Blog Writing, Poetical Recitation, E-Collage etc. were held by the Department of Student Welfare under the aegis of #KMVKares. KMVites also won accolades from Ministry, Govt. agencies, District Administration and various National bodies in the competitions like Face Painting, Poetical Recitation, Earth Day Celebrations et al.
