Continuing its legacy of excellence, KMV recently hosted the distinguished and prestigious INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) camp. This five-day event, organized under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, is designed to draw young minds toward the fascinating world of science. Shri Chander Mohan, President Arya Shiksha Mandal was the chief guest of the programme. On this occasion were also present Dr. Sushma Chawla (Vice- President, KMV Managing committee), Sh. Dhruv Mittal (Treasurer, KMV Managing committee), Dr. S.P .Gupta (Member, KMV Managing committee) and Dr. Kamal Gupta (Member, KMV Managing committee). The program witnessed enthusiastic participation of 200 toppers from more than 15 institutions. The students found this experience deeply enriching, intellectually stimulating, and profoundly educational.Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the esteemed guests and the eminent keynote speaker Dr. Arvind (Professor, IISER Mohali)& Former Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University, Patiala. In her Inaugural note, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV is not only an education institution rather it has revolutionary history. She also added that innovation & creativity are the inherent concepts of KMV and KMV was the first institution to organize INSPIRE Camp in 2011. This program inculcates the scientific vision in the students to achieve new heights in their career.Prof. Arvind, in his address, discussed various aspects of science and talked in detail about how it flourishes. He also threw light on the Godel theorem and said that science is a combination of logical and empirical thoughts. He further opined that science is different from technology and spirituality and in the end took queries of students on the topics discussed. Addressing the gathering, the chief guest Shri Chander Mohanlauded the efforts of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi and Dept. of Life Sciences, Physics and Chemistry of KMV for successfully organising the programme. He also congratulated the students for participating in such enriching initiative&asserted that students are the biggest minds and action oriented individuals and they need to be the future leaders in the field of science. The first mentor of the day was Dr (Prof.) Harkrishan Lal Vasudeva, past visiting faculty of IISER Mohali. The topic of his presentation was AM-GM-HM inequality. He explained that it is the fundamental inequality in Algebra that describes the relationship between the Arithmetic Mean (AM), Geometric Mean (GM), Harmonic Mean (HM) and Quadratic Mean (QM). He gave emphasis on the fact that it is a useful tool for problem solving and building relationships with other mathematics. Then he insisted on the significance of this inequality to find minimums or maximums of expressions in optimization problems. He discussed about Arithmetic mean , geometric mean and harmonic mean and their inequalities. They discussed about the mathematicians who had proved these inequalities . He also enlightened the students  about the S. Ramanujan lifestyle , his innovations  and about beauty and significance of Hardy’s number  1729 which is the smallest number expressible as the sum of two different cubes. The second mentor of the day was Dr (Prof.) Savita Bhatnagar from the Department of Mathematics Punjab University Chandigarh. The topic of her presentation was Magic Squares and Functional Equations. She started her presentation with the magic square formed by the birth date of great Indian mathematician S. Ramanujan. Then she explained that a Magic Square in Mathematics is a square array of numbers in which each row, column, and diagonal of numbers have the same sum. She gave lively example of magic Square of order 3, 4, 6 with particular magic number. Then she emphasized on the importance of Functional equations She discussed the fact that the functional equations are the equations where the unknown are functions rather than traditional variable. She also shared the all Indian Field Medal holder like Dr.Manjul bhargav and Akshay Venkatesh  and the first women Maryam Mirzakhani to win the Nobel Prize of Mathematics. The third mentor of the day was Mrs. Anand Prabha from the PG Department of Mathematics. She Conducted a Workshop on ‘INDIAN MATHEMATICALKNOWLEDGE SYSTEM- Application of Vedic Mathematics Sutras’. The main motive of this workshop was to highlight pivotal role played by ancient Indian wisdom of Mathematics for entrepreneurship in driving economic growth, fostering innovation and generating employment opportunities ,to remove the fear of Mathematics, and to develop Analytical thinking through Vedic Math. She averred that Vedic mathematics promotes mental calculation , increases creativity and confidence among students hence gives the better way of understanding . During the conclusion of the day, Physics experimental workshop was conducted by Dr. Neetu Verma, PG Dept. of Physics. It is worth mentioning that tomorrow also the INSPIRE Program will witness many illuminating presentations by the mentors of national & international acclaim.
