Erudite Academicians Enlighten Budding Scientists during 2nd day of DST INSPIRE camp at KMV

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) successfully organised the second day of the DST INSPIRE Internship Camp, which saw enthusiastic participation from 166 students from various schools.The day commenced with an engaging lecture by the first eminent speaker, Dr. Felix Bast, (Professor and head Department of Botany, Central University of Punjab, Ghudda) who captivated the audience with his talk titled “Icebound Odyssey: Quest for Inspiration and Discovery at the Deep South.” Dr. Bast shared his experiences and discoveries from his expeditions to Antarctica, inspiring the students to explore new horizons in the field of science and research.The second eminent speaker, Dr. Himender Bharti, (Professor, Department of Zoology and Environment Science, Punjabi University Patiala) delivered a thought-provoking lecture on “Evolutionary Biology: The Significance and Impact,” highlighting the critical role of evolutionary studies in understanding biodiversity and life on Earth. His session ignited curiosity and deepened the students’ appreciation for the subject.The day’s events also included a lecture by renowned scientist Dr. Pratap Kumar Pati, (Professor and Head Department of Biotechnology, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar) on “Biotechnology Catalysis: Biodiversity to Boost Bioeconomy.” Dr. Pati demonstrated how advancements in biotechnology can harness biodiversity to drive sustainable economic growth, providing students with a glimpse into the future of bio-based industries.In the evening, students actively participated in a video-based quiz, hands-on experiments and a write-up competition.Students visited Zoology labs and museum&explored advanced laboratories, discovering sophisticated research facilities and high-tech equipments.Students gained a fascinating glimpse into the microscope world through trinocular microscopes and examined various anatomical sections. They also delved into the intricacies of scientific specimens and working models present in the museum.Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended her gratitude towards the guest speakers for providing such detail information to the students.She averred that this INSPIRE Program will witness many illuminating presentations by the mentors of national & international acclaim in the coming days.
