An essay writing competition was organized on April 18, 2025 by SAARTHI Committee at Heritage Institution Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), Jalandhar. The theme of the competition was “Transforming Education in KMV: The Vision of NEP 2020”, aimed at creating awareness and encouraging students to delve deep into the transformational reforms proposed under the National Education Policy 2020.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 50 students across various departments of the college. Participants showcased their understanding of NEP 2020, highlighting key aspects such as holistic and multidisciplinary education, emphasis on critical thinking, the introduction of mother tongue as a medium of instruction, and the integration of vocational education.
The essays reflected the students’ insightful interpretations of how NEP 2020 envisions a learner-centric, flexible, and inclusive education system tailored to 21st-century needs already implemented in KMV. Many entries also offered suggestions for smooth implementation and discussed the policy’s potential to bridge gaps in the current education system.
The competition was judged by SAARTHI committee co-coordinators who assessed the essays based on content, originality, clarity of thought, and relevance to the theme. The winners were Rupinder Kaur (B. Sc. Hons. Maths SEM VI), Priya (M. Com SEM II) and Apeksha Sharma (B. Sc. Medical SEM II) securing the first, second, and third positions respectively.
The event successfully instilled a deeper understanding of NEP 2020 among students and emphasized the importance of active student participation in shaping the future of education. Dr. Madhumeet, played a pivotal role in the event. Her insightful coordination ensured that the competition went beyond a mere academic exercise. Under her leadership, the event became a dynamic forum for dialogue and innovation, echoing the NEP’s emphasis on holistic and multidisciplinary learning. Her encouragement and support inspired participants to delve deeper into the transformative goals of the policy, thus making the competition a true reflection of the changing landscape of Indian education. Professor (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal KMV, College appreciated the contribution of the students and congratulated co-ordinators Dr. Madhumeet, co-coordinators Dr. Iqbal Singh, Dr. Monika Rani, Dr. Prabha and SAARTHI ambassadors Sanya, Anushka and Simran.
