The role of press in nation building and social upliftment is extremely important: Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated National Press Day with full zeal and enthusiasm. The celebrations were organised jointly by Student Welfare Department&Post Graduate Department of Journalism and Mass Communication. Addressing the students on this occasion, Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated all the people associated with the field of journalism on this day and described the press as the fourth pillar of democracy. She averred that its role in nation building and social upliftment is extremely important. Keeping in mind the unity, integrity and security of the country, where she spoke about the freedom of the press, she also described it as a social mirror which works to protect the rights of the citizens. She further maintained about the contribution of the press in providing proper guidance to the young generation and also paid attention to the role of social media in the present time. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Madhumeet, Dean, Department of Student Welfare and the faculty members of PG Department of Journalism and Mass Communication for successfully organising the celebrations..
