Organises month long activities dedicated to environmental conservation and cleanliness
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) celebrated SwachhtaPakhwada by organising month long different activities dedicated to environmental conservation and cleanliness. Under the cleanliness drive organised in the college campus and botanical garden of the college, students from different departments cleanedbotanical garden and different areas of the college campus. K.M.V.’s NCC cadets cleaned the statue of Shaheed-e-Azam S. Bhagat Singh and the founder of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Lala Devraj ji installed in the college campus and paid a rich tribute to these great personalities. To solve the crisis of single use plastic and to make the studentsaware of dire consequences of plastic pollution, KMV also organised a tutorial for the students about the usage of the bottle crusher machine installed in the college campus by Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar so that the campus can be prevented from this type of pollution.Under this initiative, students collected the used plastic bottles from the campus and disposed them off in the machine. They were also guided to collect the wrappers and other plastic waste in a bottle so that it can be used for the decoration of botanical garden of the college. Students were also made aware of different types of waste bins in order to segregate dry and wet garbage. A tree plantation drive was also organised with the aim to secure pollution free & eco-friendly environment. The tress were planted at the college campus and students as well as the faculty members participated in it with full vigour and energy.An awareness campaign regarding SwachtaPakhwara was also carried out on Radio VOW(Voice of Women), an online radio channel run by PG Department of Journalism & Mass Communication in which students talked about the steps one should take for environmental conservation and also made everyone aware about government’s initiatives for this purpose. A poster making activity was also organised on the theme of Green Planet in which students showcased their creativity.PrincipalProf. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV always makes a concerted effort to act in an environmentally responsible manner. The college has adopted scientific methods based on 3-R Principal (Reduce- Reuse- Recycle) in handling Solid, Wet, Chemical, Bio-medicaland E-wastage. She further maintained that KMV is committed to work in this direction with an aim to develop campus as a Zero Waste Zone of Jalandhar city and then to implement this model in the villages adopted by the KMV under Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan and also to the surrounding areas of the college. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Department of Student Welfare, Mr Sehajpal Singh & Dr Shikha Vashisht for successfully organising the SwachtaPakhwada.
