Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous), a premier institution of higher education, is proud to announce that it has received official sanction to host the prestigious INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) camp. This five-day event, organized under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, will take place from 29th July to 2nd August 2024.INSPIRE is a flagship program initiated by DST to promote and nurture young talents in the field of science and technology. The program aims to inspire and motivate students towards pursuing careers in scientific research and innovation. The selection of KMV as a host for this esteemed event underscores the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and its significant contributions to the scientific community.The eligibility criteria for the students shall be Top 1% students in Class X board-2023 examinations and who are presently pursuing science in XI, should not have attended a similar camp earlier, For Punjab State Education Board students – Minimum %age required is 94% in Matric exam, For C.B.S.E. students – Minimum CGPA required is A1(96.0%) in Matric exam&For I.C.S.E. students – Minimum %age required is 97.83% in Matric exam.The five-day camp will include lectures, interactions, Physics, Chemistry and Maths workshops, quiz competitions as well as explorations.Throwing more light on INSPIRE, Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, averred that Innovation in Scientific Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) is a program launched by the Government of India to inspire students into natural science streams and to strengthen the National Science and Technology base in India. Scheme for Early Attraction of Talent (SEATS) aims to attract talented students and motivate them to study science by providing a Science INSPIRE camp for toppers in Class X Board – 2023 examinations, on condition that they are presently pursuing science in XI standard. She further maintained that mentors for INSPIRE science camp are Academy Fellows, Bhatnagar Awardees and Scientists of international and national repute. The camp will be a ground for healthy interaction between the mentors and the students through lectures related to scientific success stories and joys of innovation across all streams of science that in turn would stimulate their curiosity and attract them at an early age to pursue their career in science.The students will be given exposure as the invited fellows will interact with the students through lectures and personal interactive sessions in an exclusive set up in the camp. Renowned scientists, academicians, and researchers from leading institutions across the country will deliver lectures and conduct interactive sessions. These sessions are designed to ignite the curiosity and passion for science among young minds. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on workshops and experiments, providing them with practical experience and a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.The camp will feature mentorship programs where students can interact one-on-one with experts in various scientific fields, receiving guidance and career advice.The camp is going to provide an apt platform for healthy interactions among mentors and students. Students will be apprised with many research fields and research facilities available in top Indian scientific institutions. It is worth a mention here that KMVwas the first college in this part of the region to organise the INSPIREcamp way back in 2011. This initiative of organising the first INSPIRE Camp has been inspiring many other educational institutions of the region and has motivated them to follow our lead and organize INSPIRE camps.
