Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment with Top National and State Rankings by India Today Survey of Best Colleges 2020 (various categories) & Outlook Magazine honoured Principal Prof. Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Prof. Dwivedi was honoured by the whole KMV family for pioneering new initiatives in education and leading KMV to glory and unprecedented heights. It is worth a mention here that Prof. Atima’s vision, commitment and dedication has resulted in making KMV the first and only Women College of Punjab to be awarded Autonomous status. It has made KMV join higher league of colleges. New age innovative job-oriented programs with focus on practical training and skill development have also been introduced by Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. Prof. Atima also ensures that Women, especially from marginalised section trained free of cost under Women Studies Centre& Gandhian Studies Centre of KMV stand on their feet and no wonder that they are running their own boutiques, beauty salons, computer centres et al and are capable of providing employability to others. Principal Prof. Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that KMV has been the symbol of women empowerment since its inception. KMV was the pioneer institute in India who broke all the barriers of the society and started a new revolution in women education and women empowerment. She further maintained that women have always been an integral part of the society & has always played a vital role in the reformation and development of the society. She appealed to all that women should never be dependent on anyone so that she can take her decision on her own.
