Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) hosted an insightful career counselling session featuring Mr. Manpreet Singh Saggu, HR & Training Manager at Best Western, Jalandhar. This session, which focused on industry expectations and the value of skills-based education in the Hospitality, Tourism, and Aviation sectors, was a key component of KMV’s ongoing initiative to enhance industry-academia synergy.Mr. Saggu, with his extensive experience in top hospitality institutionsshared invaluable insights into the dynamic landscape of the industry. His discussion provided students with a clear understanding of the skills and competencies that are crucial for success in these fields, emphasising the importance of aligning educational outcomes with industry needs. Mr. Saggu delivered a compelling address on the evolving dynamics of hospitality and human resource management. His insights into leveraging information technology for enhancing guest experiences and his role in global brand activation initiatives provided the audience with a comprehensive understanding of the industry’s current landscape. More than 100 students attended the session with full zeal and enthusiasm. At the end of the session, inquisitive students also asked their queries from the resource person to which he replied very eloquently. It is pertinent to mention that the students from KMV’s Hospitality & Tourism program secured coveted placements at esteemed establishments such as Hilton Hotel in Boston and Loews Hotel in Arlington, Texas, USA at a lucrative package of 37 lacs showcasing their exemplary practical skills and training. Principal Prof Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended her heartfelt gratitude towards Mr. Saggu and averred that these kind of career counselling activities prove to be very beneficial for the students as it makes the students understand the real life job challenges and also make them ready to excel in this highly competitive world. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Sunil, Head, Department of Hospitality & Tourism for successfully organising the session.
