Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment with Top National and State Rankings by India Today Survey of Best Colleges 2020 (various categories) & Outlook Magazine in order to create awareness regarding the fast changes in the securities markets and to make students learn and remain updated on the latest concepts and practices of securities market organised a webinar on ‘Security Market Operations- Trading, Clearance and Settlement’ in collaboration with Securities & Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Mumbai and National Stock Exchange (NSE), Delhi.The objective of the webinar was to give the exposure and understanding of stock market operations to the students. The theme of the webinar covered major aspects like Primary and Secondary markets Operations, Regulation and Supervision of Market Intermediaries, IPO process, Mutual Funds, Clearing and Settlement Process& Risk Management etc.The program commenced with the introductory talk by the Guest of HonourMr. Jatinder Kumar, Deputy General Manager, SEBI, Mumbai. Mr. Kumar addressed the students while emphasising on the importance of investor protection. He also highlighted that securities market in India is well-regulated, more robust and investor-friendly and SEBI focuses on investor education and awareness. Mr. Gaurav Khinvsara, Manager, NSE Ltd., Delhiimparted knowledge of capital market and its operations. He discussed the various avenues for investing money keeping in mind liquidity, risk and return. He also explained the trading mechanism in detail. Mr. Anant Tanwar, Deputy Manager, NCL, Delhi, discussed the role of NSE Clearing Ltd., its participantsand the procedure followed for settlement. He also cleared the basics of collateral management.PrincipalProf. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivediaverred that these kind of activities help in providing practical exposure to the students regarding securities market operations and enhances the knowledge of students regarding various important aspects of securities market. The webinar concluded with vote of thanks extended by Dr. Neeraj Maini, Head, PG Department of Commerce and Business Administration.
