Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment, Ranked No.1 College in India by India Today Ranking (Various Categories) organised an Open House on Women Empowerment to commemorate the International Women’s Day with the aim to provide a platform to the students to share their views, thoughts and experiences. The open house was organized by the Department of Student Welfare of KMV. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi chaired the session and acquainted the students with the mission and vision of KMV. She also inspired the students to take research projects on various women issues & persuaded the students to believe in their inner strengths. She emphasised the need for physical and mental strength for women to face the challenges of life elaborating with her personal experiences & also prompted the students to come out with their own experiences and views. On this occasion, a Book Review competition and a Group Discussion on the topic Women Empowerment was also organized in which students openly presented their views & read out the review of their favourite books. This interactive session witnessed the overwhelming participation of KMVites. The house collectively debated the issues facing women in modern society and also tried to find answers and solutions to specific problems raised by participants. Priya, College Head Girl maintained that Madam Principal counsels them in a very comforting manner and this counselling inculcates confidence in them and helps them to excel. Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Student Welfare Department & Dr Neetu Chopra for organizing the open house immaculately. Madam Principal averred that these sessions enhance the confidence of the students to express their views and gives them the platform to showcase their talents. Mrs Seema Jain, Mrs Parminder, Ms Vanilla and Ms Veena Deepak were the judges for the Group Discussion.
