Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Ranked No.1 College in India by India Today Ranking organized One Week Workshop on ”Computational Sanskrit for Career Enhancement”. The workshop was organized by the department of Sanskrit in collaboration with School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Ms Shagun Sinha was the resource person for this workshop. Principal Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi inaugurated the workshop. Addressing the students, Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that Computational Sanskrit provides an ample amount of career opportunities to the students such as Computational Linguist, Indian Language Expert, Archaeologist, Sanskrit Radio Jockey and Sanskrit Research Assistant etc. She further maintained that an MOU has also been signed between Department of Sanskrit, KMV and Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. During this workshop, the main parameters for training were Machine Translation, Transliteration Tool, Technology Development for Indian Languages and linguistic, Speech Technology under Artificial Intelligence. The workshop was divided into two phases- Theoretical and Practical. Students studied all the above mentioned parameters theoretically and also had hands-on training in Web Page Designing and HTML. The purpose of this workshop was not only to provide theoretical knowledge to the students but to enable the students to implement that knowledge in the practical aspect of life. The important component of this workshop was to prepare the students for their upcoming professional life, under which students were taught CV Making, Social Networking & Voice Modulation etc. A one day field trip to the Sanskrit department of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar was also organized for the students during this seven day workshop, where Prof. Dalbir Singh, Head, Sanskrit department, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar addressed the students on the topic of Sanskrit Literature and Shri Guru Nanak Dev Darshan. A quiz was also conducted on the last day of the workshop in which all the students participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. Prof.(Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of Dr Neeraj Sharma, Head, Sanskrit department and Dr Madhumeet, Dean, Languages for successfully organizing such a meaningful workshop.
