Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) has always supported the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan/ Self-reliant India campaign of Government of India. In a new initiative, P.G. Department of Physics organized an online expert talk on “ En-route to lean startup through innovations” under the aegis of Curie Grant. Dr. Kuldeep Singh Nagla, Associate Professor, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandharwas invited as a resource person for the event. The event was attended by more than 150 participants including faculty members and students of Govt. College, Ropar, Guru Hargobind Institute of Law for Women, Ludhiana, J.C. DAV College, Dasuya , IITM School of Art Science and Commerce, Murthal, Laxmi Narayan College of Technology Excellence, Bhopal. In his talk, Dr. Nagla addressed participants on the topic of “Introduction to IPR: Focused on Patents, Designs and Copyrights”. Dr. Nagla motivated students as well as faculty to come up with innovative projects and have a startup to support society as well as nation. Dr. Nagla also guided students about various government bodies like Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), DST, Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India, Dr BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Jalandhar for financial assistance. For motivating students for startup Dr. Nagla included various examples like Swiggy, Cred, Uber, WhatsApp, SpaceX etc. in his presentation. Further Dr. Naglaalso elaborated on the the concept of Intellectual Property Rights and its need&discussed patents, trademarks, copyright&industrial design etc. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedilauded the efforts of P.G. Department of Physics for organizing this expert talk. She averred that today innovation is the need of hour and curriculum should focus on innovations and entrepreneurship in order to provide proper guidance to the students.
