Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) has always worked upon the overall development of students for their employability, productivity, health, and well-being.  Catering to the requirements of 21^st century,P.G. Department of Physics in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) organized expert talk cum virtual visit to Coe College, United States. The event was attended by more than 100 students including faculty members of P.G. Department of Physics. Prof. (Dr.) Mario Affatigato, Coe College, United States was invited as expert speaker. Prof. Affatigato is the Fran Allison and Francis Halpin Professor and Chair of the Physics Department. Prof. Affatigato delivered his talk on Characteristic features of Glasses to commemorate International Year of Glasses. His talk started with the discussion on process of formation of glasses due to natural phenomenon viz. volcanic eruption, geological process etc.Students were amazed to know that Bio-active glasses are used in toothpaste for rapid relief and repair of teeth. Even Borate based glasses are used for fast healing of old wounds. Prof. Affatigato further arranged a virtual visit to research lab of Coe college which was equipped with sophisticated and latest equipments. Students were astonished to see the preparation of glass beads by using aero levitation mechanism. The session was highly inspiring and interesting for students as they observed high tech instrumentations like Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Atomic Force Microscope (AFM), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD)&Raman Spectrometer etc.Prof. Affatigatoalso answered various queries of students as well as faculty members during the end of the session. At the end of the session, Prof. Affatigatoalso invited students and faculty members to Coe College, USA for collaboration of research. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedilauded the efforts of P.G. Department of Physics& IQAC for organizing such an interactive live talk with renowned scientist and virtual visit to international laboratories. She expressed that students as well as faculty have availed this wonderful opportunity to interact with the renowned personality which otherwise could have never been possible.
