Kanya Maha Vidyalaya- the Heritage & Autonomous institution, Seat of Women Empowerment with Top National and State Rankings by India Today Survey of Best Colleges 2020 (various categories) has always been the forerunner in the field of academics as well as many extra-curricular activities. Keeping with the trend, PG Department of English organized ‘The Story Tellers’, a national inter-college/collegiate creative writing competition for bringing out the creativity of the students. The competition was held online in which students from their home participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The competition received an overwhelming response from the students all across the region. Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi averred that the students of KMV are fully rounded personalities and they always participate in plethora of meaningful activities organized by the college for their holistic development. Competition like this enhances the overall personality of the students and also motivates them to channelize their energy for creative pursuits. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr Madhumeet, Head, PG Department of English and other faculty members for motivating the students to participate in this noble initiative. The winners of the story writing competition are Moyukh Datta Roy for “Memories of Murder”, DAVIET, Jalandhar, Rupali Manhas for “To Live or to Die”, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Sr. Sec. School, Jalandhar, Ridhima Rajput for “His Poor Fate”, KMV Jalandhar, Garima Sooden for “Faith”, KMV Jalandhar, Chetanjit Kaur for “Childhood Friends-The Story of Heron and Pigeon”, KMV Jalandhar, and Kashish Bhatia for “The Plight of a Labourer”, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. E-certificates were given to all the winners as well as to all participants. It is important to mention that best stories out of this competition will also be published by KMV.
