Kanya Maha Vidyalaya Principal Prof. Dr. Atima Sharma Dwivedi delivered a talk on Reframing Leadership Challenges in Higher Education during an initiative of the World Bank – a two-day National Webinar on Governance, Leadership & Management organised by Maharani Laxmi Bai Government College of Excellence. Prof. Atima Sharma maintained that during the present times when COVID-19 has posed innumerable challenges to humanity, we have to revamp and restructure not just our lifestyle but our educational system also. This uphill and challenging task can only be accomplished with the timely and meaningful initiatives of the leadership. An alumna of Harvard University, USA, Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi with an experience of forty years as an administrator and academician, in her talk gave valuable insights on the topic which was based on her expertise and specialisation. In her talk, Dr Atima pondered over the unprecedented challenges brought before us by the current scenario and maintained that these challenges have brought new opportunities for the academic leaders. At this juncture where education is in the state of flux, leaders have to act as drivers of change. Adaptive leadership, humane approach with humility, clear and intelligent communication, building a cohesive team, developing mutual trust and professionalism are the keys to success of the leadership with the success of an institution being a corollary. Her talk was very illuminating and informative. She was profoundly thanked by Dr AK Chaturvedi, Principal, Government College of Excellence, Gwalior. Among other eminent speakers were acclaimed scholars and stalwarts in their respective fields Dr Yogesh Upadhayay, Provost, ITM University, Baroda, Prof. Manali Londhe, Principal, S.K. Somaiya Arts, Science & Commerce College, Mumbai, Dr Prashant Shrivastava, Dean, Hemchand Yadav University, Durg, Chhattisgarh, Prof. Anupama Rawat, OSD, Department of Higher Education, Madhya Pradesh & Dr Usha Nair, OSD, World Bank Project, Department of Higher Education, Madhya Pradesh to name a few. It is worth a mention here that Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi is an internationally acclaimed personality for her contribution to higher education, leadership and women empowerment. She has been richly awarded and honoured at various national & international platforms like Best Research Content Award by Harvard University, USA, Rajiv Gandhi Education Excellence Award during a National Seminar held at New Delhi, “Indo-Nepal Shiromani Award” for outstanding Achievements in the field of Education by Nepal, Achiever of the Millennium Award presented during International Achievers Conference held at Bangkok, Thailand etc. Various programmes like Management & Leadership in Education Program at Harvard Graduate School of Education, USA and other programs like Advancement Leadership Program at Harvard University, USA, Project titled “Including Ourselves in the Change Equation: Personal Learning for Organisational Growth”, completed with Harvard University, USA have played a pivotal role in making Prof Atima contribute substantially to the field of higher education.
