Prof. Marta Fulop, Head of Social and Cultural Psychology Department, HUN-REN Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology, Research Centre of Natural Sciences, Budapest addresses the students

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya(Autonomous) P.G Department of Psychology conducted an International Webinar on the topic “Cultural Psychology”. The resource person was Prof. Marta Fulop, Head of Social and Cultural Psychology Department, HUN-REN Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology, Research Centre of Natural Sciences, Budapest. The webinar was attended by the undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Psychology department. Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi welcomed the eminent speaker and applauded the efforts of the Department of Psychology. She opined that such lectures are very useful for the students as they provide them with in-depth knowledge related to pertinent issues and topics. Prof. Marta Fulop during her address gave a detailed explanation of the impact of culture on the behavioral responses of an individual. She explained the concept of culture and the various factors affecting it told that the nationality of an individual does not reflect his/her culture. Furthermore, she also explained that there are cultural differences which shape an individual’s self-concept. She also explained the cultural influences on parenting styles, perception of time, etc. The lecture was followed by an interactive session where the students enthusiastically asked questions from the resource person.
