Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) Department of Home Science and Nutrition, Exercise, and Health organised a cafeteria initiative aimed at enhancing the practical skills of students in public dealing and bulk cooking. The event witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from students enrolled in the B.Voc in Nutrition, Exercise & Health program, who showcased their talent and learning through meticulous execution and teamwork.The cafeteria was designed as a platform to teach students the essentials of bulk food preparation, management, and customer interaction, fostering entrepreneurial skills and practical experience. Students took on responsibilities ranging from menu planning, ingredient procurement, cooking in large quantities, maintaining hygiene, and handling customer service. The initiative allowed them to gain firsthand exposure to real-world food service operations, which aligns perfectly with the curriculum’s focus on nutrition, health, and professional development.Students also prepared Chocolate Cookies, Besan Burfi, Coco Coins, Makhane, Protein Bar, Rose Burfi, Nutty Dates Burfi, Besan Modak, Veg Bomb and Macroni Salad, Masala Tea, Corn Cheezy Bread Roll, Dalgonza Coffee and Honey Chilli Idli.The participating students worked diligently to prepare nutritious and appealing food items, reflecting their understanding of balanced diets and culinary innovation. Their efforts were met with immense appreciation from faculty, peers, and visitors. The cafeteria also provided an opportunity to enhance teamwork, communication, and time management skills, all of which are crucial for professional success in the health and nutrition sectors.Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi lauded the efforts of the students and faculty, emphasising the importance of such initiatives in fostering holistic education. She highlighted that KMV has always been at the forefront of providing experiential learning opportunities to students to prepare them for emerging career pathways. She further maintained that this cafeteria not only served as an effective learning module but also motivated students to excel in their academic and professional pursuits. Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Neeti Kapoor, Head, Department of Home Science for this brilliant initiative.
