Honours the batch of 1960s with the title of ‘Sweet Sixties’
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) successfully organized the KMV Alumni Meet “Pearls-2025”. The event saw enthusiastic participation of more than 350 KMV alumni from all over the world. Many distinguished alumnae from Delhi, Shimla, Mumbai & Himachal Pradesh including former students from the 1960s—Mrs. Karamjit Kaur, Mrs. Savita Chhibba (Mother-in-law of Mr. Shahrukh Khan), Mrs. Ira Singh, Mrs. Prem Maan, Mrs. Vimla Sobti, Mrs. Kiran Nair, Dr. Sushma Chawla, Mrs. Parveen Abrol and many more also graced the occasion. Mrs. Anuradha Sondhi, Member, KMV Managing Committee and an alumna of KMV was also present on the occasion. The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony. Addressing the gathering, Principal Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi, herself an alumna of the institution, warmly welcomed all the former students who have been spreading the fragrance of KMV across the world through their accomplishments. She expressed her pride in their achievements and shared her happiness in playing a dual role at the event—as the Principal of the college and as a former student. She informed the alumnae about the college’s progress and its commitment to women’s education and empowerment for nearly a century and a half. She emphasised that the purpose of this event was to provide a platform for alumnae to share their struggles and success stories, inspiring future generations.The former students, overcome with nostalgia, recalled their college days and cherished old memories. The 1960s batch was especially honoured on this occasion with the title of Sweet Sixties. This batch particularly reminisced about KMV’s strict discipline and shared how their time at the college instilled values of hard work, perseverance, and recognising opportunities for growth. Dr. Sushma Chawla mesmerised the audience with her enchanting dance performance. During the event, several distinguished alumnae from the 1960s, including Mrs. Savita Chhibba, Mrs. Pardes Bala Chaune, Mrs. Rita Suri, Mrs. Prem Maan, Vinaka Sobti, Mrs. Kiran Nair, Madam Promila, Mrs. Seema Handa, Mrs Jasbir, and Mrs Parveen Abrol, were honoured with a special memento by Madam Principal. Additionally, former national and international softball and volleyball players such as Mrs. Sukhjinder, Gurpinder, Navjot Kaur,Mandeep and Parminder were also specially recognised and felicitated.The alumnae also toured the Hostel, Hall of Fameand advanced laboratories, appreciating the remarkable progress of their alma mater under the leadership of Prof. Atima Sharma Dwivedi. They also enjoyed fun games, showcased their modelling skillsand participated in various engaging activities.The Performing Arts Department of the college presented a mesmerisingChirmi dance performance, which was highly appreciated. Several distinguished alumnae living abroad also expressed their love and gratitude for KMV through video messages.In conclusion, Madam Principal extended her heartfelt appreciation to all the alumni present. She lauded the efforts of Dr. Shalini Gulati, Dr Reena Sharma and the whole organising committee for their efforts in making the event a grand success.
