KMV champions IPR Awareness for Research and Entrepreneurship

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) successfully organizedthe valedictory ceremony of a highly insightful and informativeweek-long Faculty Development Program (FDP) on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Fostering Research and EntrepreneurshipEntrepreneurship in association with AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL). The valedictory ceremony was graced by the presence of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi. In her address, Principal Prof. (Dr.) Atima Sharma Dwivedi appreciated the efforts put into organizing the program and commended the participants for their active engagement throughout the week. She also emphasised the importance of fostering a deeper understanding of intellectual property rights in the academic and entrepreneurial ecosystem. She averred that the successful completion of this FDP marks a significant milestone in enhancing the knowledge of faculty members, researchers, and aspiring entrepreneurs about the role of intellectual property in shaping innovation and business development.The concluding session of the FDP featured a distinguished talk by Er. Amardev Singh, Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship Development and Industrial Coordination (EDIC), National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh. Er. Singh’s session, titled “Intellectual Property Rights – Implications for New Product Development,” provided an in-depth perspective on the importance of IPR in innovation, research, and the commercialisation of new products. He emphasised how understanding and protecting intellectual property is crucial for researchers and entrepreneurs to safeguard their innovations, and how patents, trademarks, and copyrights can play a significant role in fostering successful business ventures. He also engaged the audience with real-world examples, showing the transformative impact of well-managed IPR in the development of new products. He also discussed the process of patent filing, the importance of protecting intellectual assets early in the development cycle, and the role of IPR in attracting investments and partnerships for entrepreneurial ventures. Dr Rashmi Sharma, Coordinator of the FDP, presented a detailed report summarising the highlights and objectives of the event, while Dr Narinder Kaur, Co-coordinator of the event, delivered the vote of thanks.
