KMV becomes the only institute in Punjab to be granted with Skill Hub by Government of India

Kanya Maha Vidyalaya (Autonomous) has been contributing in women’s empowerment since its inception in 1886. Continuing the chain of its commendable achievements, KMV has earned the honour of being the only institution in Punjab to be granted Skill Hub by the Government of India. In this regard, the inaugural ceremony of Skill Hub was organised by Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra of Kanya Maha Vidyalaya. Principal Prof.  Atima Sharma Dwivedi was the chief guest for the ceremony. During the inauguration, Prof. Dwivedi averred that it is a great success to be the only institution in the region and among the top 110 institutions at the national level to be selected for the Skill Hub. This skill hub is a unique initiative in empowering young girls and taking them towards better employment. She further maintained that according to the job roles recognised by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), this hub will strive to provide proper education to the students who are away from education due to any reason and have dropped out of school. Talking further, sheapprised everyone that two short term courses  namely Self Employed Tailor and Assistant Beauty Therapist have been started by KMV under the Skill Hub. The students of these courses will not only get mentoring from highly qualified and experienced teachers but will also get to attend personality development classes&career counselling sessions by industry expertswhich will help them to move ahead in the present competitive era. Along with this, highlighting the importance of vocational education in realising the set objectives of the new education policy, Prof. Dwivedi encouraged the students to participate with full zeal and enthusiasm in various activities that will be organised under these two new courses.Madam Principal lauded the efforts of Dr. Gopi Sharma, Director, DDU Kaushal Kendra & other faculty members of Kaushal Kendra for this brilliant achievement.
