KMV Organizes Expert Talk on Eye Health Awareness in Collaboration with Innocent Hearts Eye Centre

Jalandhar, March 25, 2025 – Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, designated as the Heritage Institution by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, India in view of its 140 years of unparalleled and historic legacy and having an internationally recognized iconic stature, has been imparting transformative education through three centuries of its existence. To carry the legacy ahead college, organise expert talks regularly. In sync with this, Department of Sciences in association with Innocent Hearts Eye Centre, organised expert talk on Eye health awareness on March 25, 2025 at Conference Hall. The resource person was Dr Rohan Bowery, a famous Ophthalmology and Director of Innocent Hearts Eye Centre Jalandhar. At the beginning of session, Principal Mam Prof. (Dr) Atima Sharma Dwivedi extended a warm welcome to Dr. Rohan Bowery by presenting him with a planter. Dr. Bowery shared his insights regarding the ways in which the Refractive surgery has seen significant advancements in recent years, driven by technological innovations, improved surgical techniques, and enhanced patient care protocols. Dr Bowery explained the structure and problems of eyes. He discussed about myopia, hypermetropia and different methods to correct these problems. The resource person also discussed about recent developments in eye care like PRK with Excimer, LASIK with MEL 80, and SMILE, highlighting their efficiency and painless nature that have contributed to better visual outcomes, increased safety, and expanded treatment options for patients with refractive errors. The resource person emphasized that Sight is a gift; caring for your eyes is a responsibility. After the session, Dr Bowery interacted with students and cleared doubts of students regarding eye care. The Principal mam appreciated the faculty of Science for organising the event. The lecture was very enlightening, informative and useful for all the participants.
