Overview of Department

Faculty Introduction

The Department offers core courses in chemistry for undergraduate and post graduate students. It has close cooperation with disciplines such as Physics, Biology, Maths, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Microbiology and Home Science. The department has received funds from CPE and DBT Star College scheme .It has also been identified by the DST under FIST-I and FIST-II programmes. Department Of Chemistry has started offering a course in M.Sc Chemistry from session 2018-2019 under continuous evaluation system which provides students with opportunities to work in modern state of art laboratories, where the students can complement their chosen cluster and prepare themselves to get lucrative jobs in research and industry, career in education and the possibility to follow part of their programme abroad.

The Department of Chemistry updates curricula on a regular basis to ensure that students keep up with the changing trends of education and research globally.

Infrastructure

The department has good instrumental facilities such as Double beam UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Single Beam UV-VIS Spectrophotometer, Rotavapor, Temperature controlled Magnetic Stirrer,Turbidity Meter, pH  meter, Colorimeter, TDS Meter, Refractrometer, Overhead Stirrer , Polarimeter  and good computer facilities for carrying out advanced research. The library of the Chemistry department is well equipped with latest books, journals and research papers. The department is well-known for its research activities and has very well equipped research laboratory.
