The Physics Department at Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar, Punjab, provides a robust education in the physical sciences. It was established in 1950 and is offering undergraduate and master programmes. The department aims to foster a deep understanding of the fundamental principles of physics, preparing students for both advanced studies and various career opportunities in science and technology.
Department of Physics is supported by FIST, Department of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology, India and CURIE Grant of Government of India. It is First Women College Offering M.Sc. Physics Under Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar. Not only that, P.G. Department of Physics is the first and only Anveshika Centre in Punjab under the NANI Initiative of Padam Shri Prof. H C Verma. The department boasts a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members. They are dedicated to teaching and mentoring students, as well as engaging in significant research activities.

A) POST DOCTORAL FELLOW OF THE DEPARTMENT
Dr. Sandeep Kaur (a doctoral student and faculty of the department) has been awarded with Kiran -Wise Post Doctoral fellowship by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), New Delhi for three years. She will be working with Dr. Gopi Sharma (faculty of the department) on the topic of green solar technology.
Faculty of the P.G. Department of Physics has been recognised as PhD guides by various universities such as B.R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology, Punjab Technical University and Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology. P.G. Department of Physics has research equipment’s worth Rs. 96,89,282/- purchased under different research projects and other grants provided by the government of India.
